Description

A Soft Sri Lankan Favourite with Its Signature Crocodile Shape

Kimbula banis, meaning “crocodile bun” in Sinhala, is a much-loved Sri Lankan bakery treat named after its distinctive elongated, ridged shape. A generous coating of coarse sugar crystals brings sweetness and a slight crunch to the outside, contrasting with the soft, tearable and gently rolled bread within. Warm it up and enjoy the interplay of sugary crunch and pillowy bread, especially alongside oat milk tea or coffee.

Key Highlights

• Distinctive elongated, ridged crocodile-inspired shape
• Soft, tearable bread with a gently rolled interior
• Coarse sugar coating adds sweetness and a slight crunch
• Lovely warmed up with oat milk tea or coffee
• Vegan

How to Enjoy

Keep frozen until ready to eat. No defrosting is required. Microwave directly from frozen for a short time until soft and warmed through.

No microwave? Steam briefly for an especially soft, fluffy finish. Alternatively, warm in an air fryer or oven for a short time at a gentle temperature. Check frequently to avoid drying out the buns.

Suggested heating guide. Appliance performance may vary. Heat until thoroughly warmed through.

Enjoy warm on its own with tea or coffee, or pair with vegan butter, jam, nut butter or your favourite spread.

Ingredients: Wheat flour, vegan margarine, yeast, sugar, salt, water.
