Hi, I'm Ratna.
I've been vegan for 17 years.
I founded Vegan District in 2019 to help animals by making vegan choices more accessible.
Before Vegan District, I started the Malaysian Vegan Facebook community in 2009, organised vegan events, supported animal sanctuaries, and have been doing outreach activism through Anonymous for the Voiceless since 2019.
For the past 2 years, we've organised Cube of Truth outreach every single Saturday.
Vegan District was never just another grocery store.
Fully vegan spaces help normalize a world where animals are not treated as products.
When people support vegan businesses, they help sustain businesses whose core purpose is aligned with animals, not businesses simply responding to market trends.
Every vegan business that survives helps create a future where choosing not to exploit animals becomes easier for everyone.
What Happened?
Simple.
Our landlord has asked us to vacate our current location.
While we have been given 2 months' notice, relocating requires substantial upfront costs long before the move itself.
These include rental deposits, renovation and fit-out, relocation costs, refrigeration and equipment setup, business continuity expenses
Without sufficient support, Vegan District may be forced to close.
Over the years, it has become a platform that has helped strengthen veganism across Malaysia:

✓ Made vegan groceries accessible across Malaysia
✓ Helped introduce thousands of people to vegan alternatives
✓ Served as a meeting place for vegans and activists
✓ Helped amplify animal rights advocacy
✓ Provided ongoing support to vegan and animal-related initiatives
Our Commitment
If we successfully relocate and rebuild sustainably, we intend to pay this support forward.
Future contributions will be directed toward animal rights efforts and animal sanctuaries.
This is not a promise of financial return.
It is a commitment that the kindness shown to Vegan District will eventually be passed on to animals who need it most.
