Vegan Soya Keema- Minced Meat Masala

Keema or Kheema is a savoury dish made with minced soya meat, retaining all the spices in a great tasting keema.
Ingredients

250g plant-based minced meat

2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

2 medium-sized onions, chopped
-
1-2 red chilli, sliced
-
2 sprigs curry leaves
-
2 medium tomatoes, chopped

1 tsp salt (or to taste)

1 potato-cut into small cubes

1/2 cup frozen green peas-defrosted
-
Coriander leaves- shredded
-
1 cup coconut milk or 1/2 cup vegan yogurt

2 tsp lemon juice
-
1/4 cup cooking oil
-
1 cup water

Spices A 1 inch cinnamon
-
Spices A 1 star anise
-
Spices A 3 cloves
-
Spices A 3 cardamoms

1-11/2 tbsp red chilli powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2 tbsp coriander powder
-
1 tsp fennel powder
-
1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp garam masala
-
1/2 tsp ground black pepper powder
Spices B
Directions
Heat up pan and fry Spices A.
Add curry leaves and red chilli, and stir.
Add onions and fry 2-3 minutes.
Now add chopped tomatoes and ginger-garlic paste.
Then add minced plant-based meat and sautè 2-3 minutes.
Now add Spices B and stir to combine well.
Cover the pan and allow to simmer for 5 minutes.
Then add cubed potatoes and green peas to the gravy.
Add 1 cup water and bring to boil. Cover the pan and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the potatoes are cooked.
When potatoes are cooked, thick coconut milk or yogurt and salt may be added.
Sautè on low heat until the gravy almost dries up.
Then add lemon juice.
Finally add coriander leaves and serve with rice or flatbreads like chapati or naan.

Any type of vegan minced meat can be used.
