Whole blanched almonds are ground into a fine meal that lends a nutty flavour and moist texture to baked goods. As a general rule of thumb, you can also replace 25% of the all-purpose flour in your baking recipes with almond flour to add a wonderful texture and flavour while reducing the total carbohydrates.

Not only is almond flour a traditional choice for delicacies like French macarons and financiers, but this nutty meal can be used in savoury applications, as well. Use it as a low carb flour alternative in place of bread crumbs in meatballs, or as a coating for chicken and fish. To keep it at peak freshness, almond flour and meal is best stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
